Everyone associated with wearesalem.org is more than welcome to submit contributions to the content of our site. We will accept article proposals, images, banners, links to websites, and more. However, please note that submission does not guarantee that your content will automatically be posted. The decision to post content is made completely at the discretion of the wearesalem.org website team. Front Page Scroller Images

Each of the panes that slide across the top half of our home page is a single image. Contributors are welcome to design images for addition to the list of images. Please feel free to provide images for special events, Church activities, and more.

• • • Scroller Image size must be exactly 950x343 Pixels.
    • Inset images (the images contained within your Scroller image) should be no larger than 410x288. No more than one inset image should be included on a single Scroller Image.
    • If you want the image you are submitting to be linked to another wearesalem.org page or an Internet location, please indicate the complete URL for the link when you submit your image.
    • Please submit front page scroller images to the site administrator by email.
    • All images must be submitted in .jpg, .gif, or .png format.

Top Banner Images (appear in upper right of front page)

Much like the central image scroller, the banner images in the upper right of the home page can be set to rotate.

• • • Banner images must be exactly 266x97 pixels.
    • Banner Images should match the color scheme of the header.
    • Please submit top banner images to the site administrator by email.
    • All images must be submitted in .jpg, .gif, or .png format.

Images for Articles and other Locations

• • • Any image submitted as a replacement for an existing image on wearesalem.org should be the exact dimensions of the image it is meant to replace.
    • When submitting an image to replace a pre-existing image, you should always include the file name and location (URL) of the image you propose to replace.
    • Images submitted for use in a specific article should typically take up no more than 25% of the space used by the entire article (text and images together). In plain words, the finished article should be 75% text and 25% images.
    • Please submit images for articles and other loactions to the site administratorby email.
    • All images must be submitted in .jpg, .gif, or .png format.

Submitting content if you have direct publishing rights on wearesalem.org

You are encouraged to submit articles about Salem EC Church. Articles may include promotions for upcoming Church events, coverage of recent Church events, and more. Articles may be submitted via direct publishing using the wearesalem.org WYSIWYG editor. However, users must seek the approval of the Pastor and the site administrator in order to obtain direct editing rights. Direct editing rights will generally be granted only to Church group leaders.

• • • All content contributions will be reviewed by Wearesalem administrators prior to posting.
    • Please check the accuracy, grammar, and spelling in your contributions prior to submission.
    • Articles may be edited for accuracy, grammar, and spelling by wearesalem.org administrators prior to posting.
    • Articles submitted via direct publishing using the wearesalem.org WYSIWYG editor must be categorized with a specific Category upon saving. If you do not know the correct Category for an article you are writing, please temporarily categorize the article as Uncategorized, and notify the site administrator, by email, that you have submitted and uncategorized article.

Cutting and Pasting From MS Word into the wearesalem.org WYSIWYG editor

• • • If you have direct publishing rights on wearesalem.org, please do NOT cut and paste text or images into our web site's WYSIWYG editor from Microsoft Word or a similar word processor! This action will carry unwanted hidden code from your word processor to our web site. Even though you may not see the code in WYSIWYG view, this code can really mess up the appearance of your article, and it can potentially make our web site run very poorly. Please either type your information directly into the wearesalem.org WYSIWYG editor, or write your text in Microsoft Notepad or a similar plain text editor. It is safe to cut and paste text from Notepad into the wearesalem.org WYSIWYG editor.

Displaying Images from Facebook in the Wearesalem.org Gallery

Wearesalem.org can display images from your Facebook albums. These are the requirements to display the albums:

• Facebook account

In order to display Facebook albums (images from your Facebook albums) on our site, you need to create a Facebook Applicationin your Facebook account. This application is needed to communicate between our site and your Facebook account. It will be your application so you will control it. It is secure, and it doesn't download your Facebook data into another page.

Displaying Images from Google Picasa in the Wearesalem.org Gallery

Wearesalem.org can display images from from Google Picasa Web Albums application. Following are the requirements to display the albums:

• Google account with active Google Picasa Web Albums application, see picasaweb.google.com
  

• Set album and load images into your Google Picasa Web Albums application (Album and images need to be accessible to public).

• Picasa User Name (from Picasa Settings) - username which you are using for your gallery on Picasa Web Albums application (or user ID).
• Album Name (from Picasa Settings) - name of album which is included in your Picasa gallery (without # or without empty spaces, case sensitive - just copy the name from url bar in your browser)
• Authentication Key - in case your album is not public, add the authentication key to access this album.

Google Picasa uses specific sizes for displaying images and thumbnails:

• Thumbnails - 32px, 48px, 64px, 72px, 104px, 144px, 150px, 160px
• Images - 94px, 110px, 128px, 200px, 220px, 288px, 320px, 400px, 512px, 576px, 640px, 720px, 800px, 912px, 1024px, 1152px, 1280px, 1440px, 1600px.

If the size of thumbnail or image is different from Phoca Gallery settings, then Phoca Gallery will try to correct the size. If you will use Phoca Gallery for displaying Picasa images, it is recommended to use the same size of thumbnails for Phoca Gallery which is used in Picasa, e.g.:

• Small thumbnail - 48px (50px is default in Phoca Gallery)
• Medium thumbnail - 104px (100px is default in Phoca Gallery)
• Large thumbnail - 640px (640px is default in Phoca Gallery).

You can modify the background image (shadow effect) for other than default Phoca Gallery thumbnail size in: Phoca Gallery - Themes, see Styling Background Image article.

If you have problems with getting information from Google Picasa, try to test:

• if your user name is correct
• if your album name is correct (remove #, empty spaces, name is case sensitive - check uppercase and lowercase letters). If your album name is e.g. "album", try to set "Album"
• If your album is public (album must be public while getting information from Google Picasa, after getting information about required album and saving category in Phoca Gallery, you can make the album private again).
